René was born in Honduras and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. In 2001, a teacher invited him to church, and after months of visiting, he asked Jesus to be Lord of his life. What followed was a peace he had never known before. Patty grew up in a pastor's home, yet was wounded by the gap between what was preached and how people lived. It was not a sermon that brought her back, but a young woman whose faith was quiet, genuine, and without pretense. Together, they share a faith and desire that will not let them stay quiet about what God has done. The Lord brought them to Mérida, Mexico. Having spent nearly three decades living and ministering in cross-cultural contexts in the U.S., René understands firsthand what it means to navigate life between two worlds. Now ministering to the expat community at Calvary Chapel Mérida Centro, he and Patty see clearly how God was preparing them all along, alongside their three boys René Sergio, Nathanael, and Caleb.
