Their Story

Kelly and Jeanwildo have an incredible story of how the Lord united two individuals from different countries, languages, and backgrounds to minister to the children of Haiti.

In 2011, when Kelly’s brother prepared for a mission trip to Haiti, this Jersey Girl declared she would NEVER go. Yet, as Proverbs 16:9 says, “The LORD determines our steps.” In 2011, Kelly unexpectedly joined her first trip to Haiti and was captivated by the people and culture. During her second trip God called her to Haiti and reaffirmed that call through ongoing trips. She wrote down her vision for Haiti and saw it start to unfold.

Jeanwildo was born in Port-au-Prince and raised by his grandmother in Jacmel, Haiti. In 2015 he moved back to Port-au-Prince at which time He received the Lord as His Savior as he grew in faith, he found great joy in serving others.

In 2015, Kelly and Jeanwildo met, and as their relationship grew, they discovered a shared vision for the children. In October 2018, they took their first mission trip together to Cap-Haitien, married in March 2019, and launched their first children's program that summer.

Since 2019, they have committed themselves to serving the children of Port-au-Prince through Rete Toujou Ministries, which translates "Be still" in Haitian Creole. Drawing inspiration from Psalm 46:10, their mission is to deepen the faith of the youth, teaching them to trust God as their refuge and strength in a land facing violence and poverty. Their mission statement is, “Inspiring the children/youth of Haiti to embrace a life surrendered to God, rooted in His love, and anchored in the stillness of knowing He is Lord.”

Until 2023, Jeanwildo lived in Haiti while Kelly traveled back and forth. After five years, he was finally able to join her in the U.S. They have created a dedicated team in Haiti that helps about 100 children learn about Jesus through a weekly program which includes Bible lessons, worship, and meals, with Kelly and Jeanwildo participating virtually. They also reflect Christ's love through food outreaches and by providing school supplies. They are eager to return to Haiti, but currently reside in the U.S. because of severe unrest and violence in Haiti. Kelly works at a nearby urgent care, while Jeanwildo is employed in the masonry trade.
